Family seeks apology after Indigenous history material using 'inappropriate' terms handed out in London class

Clint Couchie, from the Nipissing First Nation and his partner, Trina McGahey from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation say their daughter was exposed to outdated terms describing Indigenous peoples in her history class at her Catholic high school.

An Indigenous parent wants an apology from the London District Catholic School Board in Ontario, saying material using "inappropriate" terms for Indigenous people was given out in his daughter's Grade 11 history class. The board says the resource was shared in a lesson on WW I, and the teacher, students and families will get the "necessary guidance, information and appropriate supports."
